_ Fizzy Drinks! Fizzy Drinks!
Did you know? -There will be some changes in the kind of school food you can buy in your school. The food and the drinks will be healthier and will contain less sugar.
The soft drinks giant Pepsi Cola was joined Cadbury Schweppes and Unilever in pledging to stop showing adverts aimed at the under- 12s. They will also stop selling their products in primary schools unless invited to by education authorities. Fizzy drinks will be allowed in secondary schools only alongside water and juices in unbranded vending machines promoting healthy diets.
Schools make an average for £10,000 a year from vending machine sales but there are 1million obese children in Britain and the figure is rising. Experts believe one can – which contains the equivalent of 10 spoons of sugar makes the difference between a child losing or gaining weight.
